A Fantastic Mennonite Mystery- Can't get much better than that!!

   "Inescapable"

By Nancy Mehl

Upon opening this book, I knew, without a doubt, that it would be a fantastic read. The first page grabbed my attention, with a mysterious man staring at the main character's apartment, hidden from view. Nancy used that first page to get my attention and want to know more!! Why was he there? What was he doing? Who was Lizzie? Why was she in an apartment with her little girl by herself?  That is the key to a great mystery. You HAVE to keep reading!! You NEED those answers.

The characters are well described and you feel their every emotion, whether it be fear, determination, wonder , confusion or joy. That definitely makes a great book!! I became so involved with the story, that life just went on around me, as I read and read and read, until I reached the end! The plot is exceptional with its many twists and turns. Just when I thought that I had some answers, there was another complication to confuse me. Well done, Nancy!! Only someone with a special talent can do this - the element of surprise was evident throughout the book.

Synopsis:

Lizzie Engel, whose original hometown was Kingdom, Kansas had been on the run , since the age of eighteen. She definitely had no intention of ever returning.

Five years later, with her little girl , Charity, she finds that the life she has built for herself, is falling apart. She is sure , correctly so, that she is being followed and is terrified by a series of threatening letters. For her own safety and that of her child, she must run again, only this time, the only escape to be found is the last place she ever thought she would go- Kingdom, Kansas.

Upon arriving in Kingdom, Lizzie is confident that she will be safe until she can come up with a new plan of action. She reacquaints herself with the town and her old friends, especially  her old friend, Noah.  Lizzie begins to think that perhaps she has been hasty in her harsh judgement of her hometown and the Mennonite faith, in which she was raised.  THEN, another surprise!! As she just begins to relax and settle, she is horrified to discover that the danger she was trying to avoid is closer than ever. I can tell you no more as it would be a spoiler. You just HAVE to read this book to find out all the mysterious happenings.

Lizzie becomes overcome with fear, not sure who, if anyone can be trusted. She is even fearful for the lives of those around her. Now , she has only one place left to run- into the arms of her Heavenly Father.

This is a book of renewal of faith and trusting in God's Plan. Now, I can hardly wait for Book 2 of this series!!
