A Book with Romance and Intrigue Ending With the Happily Ever After

"Trouble In Store"
    By Carol Cox
A governess, Melanie Ross , has recently been fired from her position and is forced to give in to her last resort! One that she has NEVER desired. The Arizona mercantile that she inherited from her cousin, is about to become, she thinks, the answer to her problems.  However, Caleb Nelson is sure, without a doubt, that HE inherited the mercantile and he is NOT about to let an ornery female with all her newfangled ideas disturb the success he has worked so hard to achieve. In hopes to turn Melanie's interests elsewhere, Caleb decides to turn her interests elsewhere- get her married off to one of the numerous bachelors in the town and take her off his hands.

The problem arises! Caleb soon realizes he doesn't want her to just marry anyone in her desperate state. He is drawn to her (VERY much against his will) more every day. He even has to admit that her new ideas for the store have unexpectedly positive results.

The mystery then arises!! Someone doesn't want the mercantile to be successful. Threats have been made - the words have threatened destruction and danger! Will Melanie and Caleb's business- as well as beginning romance- survive the troubles that they meet along the way??

This book is a real page turner , with surprises in each chapter. There is just enough mystery , along with romance to keep the reader interested. AND the story ends in a happily ever after ending, after many challenges and problems.

The characters come alive in your mind, as you read. I could picture both Caleb and Melanie and at times, wanted to give them a good shake and some advice. They became my friends, as their problems became mine. The ability to identify with the characters happens to be one of my requirements in judging how good a book is, and this one definitely satisfies it well.

The plot, although not too intense, keeps you interested to the final page. It is a light read, with just enough intrigue to  produce a good story. It is well developed , with little twists and turns along the way.

All in all, I found this a great read. A good book to take on a holiday!!

An Intriguing Mystery Full of Intrigue!!

"Rosemary Cottage"

    By Colleen Coble

About Rosemary Cottage:Amy came to Rosemary Cottage to grieve, to heal, maybe even find love. But there's a deadly undertow of secrets around Hope Island . . .

The charming Rosemary Cottage on the beach offers Amy Lange respite she needs to mourn her brother, Ben. She's even thinking of moving her midwife practice to the Outer Banks community. It's always been a refuge for her and her family. She also wants to investigate Ben's disappearance at sea. Everyone blames a surfing accident, but Amy has reason to wonder.

Coast Guard officer Curtis Ireland has lost a sibling too. His sister, Gina, was run down by a boat, leaving him to raise her infant daughter. If anyone knew who little Raine's father was, Curtis could lose his beloved niece. Yet he can't help being drawn to Hope Beach's new midwife, Amy. He even agrees to help her investigate what happened to both Ben and Gina.

Can two grieving people with secrets find healing on beautiful Hope Island? Or will their quest for truth set them at odds with each other . . . and with those who will go to any length to keep hidden things hidden?

My feelings on this work of art!

If you wish to read a book packed full of adventure, mystery and intrigue,  then this is definitely the book for you! Just beware, at times, your heart may pound , you will sit on the edge of your chair, AND you WILL NOT be able to put it down!! I was glued to every page and could hardly wait for the next page, which I knew would bring more mystifying twists and turns in the plot. The previous book in the this series, "Tidewater Inn" was fantastic and this continuation of the "Hope Beach"  books was certainly no disappointment.  Colleen has the rare ability to slip new complications into the plot as the story progresses- totally unexpected,  to keep you riveted to the book until the final pages.

The rich language used to describe the characters captured my attention immediately.  I was able to picture each one and began to try to help them solve their problems. In my mind, I could see them struggling and so wanted to help them . Each character became my best friend.  To feel their emotions, is something that captivates the reader. To me, that is what makes a good read. I have to be able to identify with the main characters, in order to enjoy the book.  And this book met my criteria and more!!

Just the right amount of romance entered the plot, as the characters suffered through the disturbing mystery surrounding the deaths of their siblings. Colleen is a master storyteller, whose books speak for themselves. Read one and you will be hooked!!
In this story, as well as all of her creations, there is an underlying theme, that comes to the forefront many times and is present in all the turmoil. Our God is one who forgives and gives second chances. This is a story of redemption. All that is needed is  for the characters to admit that God has a plan and they will follow it, as hard as it is , when problems and challenges are hiding around each corner.

Will God be able to show the main characters His power of forgiveness and healing? Will they accept it??  You are kept in suspense until the final pages.

A fantastic read!! I , myself, can hardly wait for the next book !!!
Definitely, a five star book!
