The Perfect Book to Put You in the Christmas Spirit!

  "The Christmas Angel Project"
              By Melody Carlson

Synopsis:

Perfect for readers who want a heartwarming and hopeful Christmas story
Five women from different walks of life have become close friends through their book club--enjoying one another's company even more than they enjoy the books. So when the leader of the book club unexpectedly passes away on the cusp of the Christmas season, the four remaining friends are stunned. They relied on Abby for inspiration and motivation. She was the glue that held them together, and they're sure that without her the group can't continue.

When the group gathers "one last time" to open a bag Abby's husband gives them, they find Abby had made each of them an angel ornament for Christmas, crafted especially for each woman and accompanied by a sweet and personal note. Inspired by their beloved friend, together Cassidy, Louisa, Grace, and Belinda decide to commit themselves to becoming Christmas Angels to others in need. Each woman will use her life situation and talents to reach out and help others in her own unique way--little knowing that her own life and her relationships will be changed forever.

Fan favorite Melody Carlson is back with another touching Christmas story sure to grip readers' hearts and perhaps inspire them to become Christmas Angels themselves.

My Thoughts:

As a reader who absolutely adores seasonal novels, I must admit that Melody Carlson has become one of my favorite authors, supplying me with a new book each Christmas. I feel as though I have received the best of the best when this author's book arrives in my mailbox. Can I wait until November to read it??? NO!! That just isn't possible. In my opinion, this year's creation has surpassed all other Christmas themed novels. The setting is perfect in time and season. A group of close female friends has lost one of its valued members, in fact , they were a book club. How appropriate!!

The characters are described in such realistic and believable detail that you immediately identify with each in a unique way. I found myself feeling their hurts and pains which were many and crying along with them as they grieved so deeply for the one that was suddenly taken from them. These women made me search deep within myself. How can one remain strong when everything good and happy is taken from you? The Christmas season is supposed to be a time of happiness and thankfulness for blessings. Am I able to do this as well as the individuals in this tale ? It made me think of my life and what is important and what "should" be important!!

The plot  creatively moved along a steady pace, slowly enough so that the reader is able to take time to think  of the deeper meanings in this tale of heartache. Each character had to rediscover herself in order to move forward. What Abby left behind was so important and meaningful. The ways to achieve healing was dealt with in four different ways, each individual digging deep within in a way that was unique to herself.

I absolutely loved this book!! Was it all happy and glowing?  No, but it left a desire within me to somehow make my life count. That in itself is a gift. God gives it to each of us, as the characters in the book portrayed.

A five star book!!!
